Centrals debate development Project

The trade union movement intends to make a national development project for Brazil which is a result of the sustainable growth of economy, of investment in production, of job generation and of income increase and distribution.

At the same time, the trade union centrals (Força Sindical, CUT, CTB, Nova Central and CGTB) defend the largest democratic freedom and the afirmation of the role of the trade union movement and the working class in the life of the Brazilian nation.

Great assembly
At the first of June of this year, the centrals will make the Working Class National Confederation, at Pacaembu Stadium, in São Paulo, for, in a great assembly, with the participation of tens of thousands of trade union leaders and activists, to debate the greatest proposals of workers.

“We will approve a document that will be delivered to the candidates to the presidence of Republic, because we understand that the general elections of 2010 will be a decisive moment for the country and for the democracy that we’ve been building”, assess the general-secretary of Força Sindical, João Carlos Gonçalves, Juruna.

Main role
For him, the elections will happen in a scene of democratic freedom, economic growth and income increase and distribution. “We’ve taken the main role in the fight to overcome the world financial crisis, which started in the USA at the end of 2008”, completes thegeneral-secretary.

Juruna is refering to the proposals made by the centrals which produced the fiscal not obligation to pay and the increase of the credit offer for the consomers. “These actions have been fundamental to avoid the crisis to produce a great recession linked to a scene of high unemployment in Brazil”, adds Cláudio Guimarães da Silva, Janta, president of Força-RS.

Economic growth
Analizing the current decade, the president of the Central-AL, Albegemar Costa, Gima, said that there were an increase in the indicators of the job market. He pointed the ocupation growth, formal job evolution, significant increase of the salary mass, discret recuperation of the average salary and big increase of the real value of the minimum salary.

“The exportations and the internal market have impulsed the economical growth. The fight of the trade union movement for the recuperation of the minimum salary, retires and pensions, for interests reduction, for cut of taxes and for the increment of credit have been the colaboration of work to the growth of Brazil”, believes Rodrigo Carvelo, president of Força Sindical-GO.

Politics projects
For the president of the Metallurgist Trade Union of Osasco, Jorge Nazareno, Jorginho, the electoral campaign will show a dispute of several politic and development projects for the country. “We defend that this process of debate gets together and mobilize millions of workers who wants a fairer society”, completes Jorginho.

We’ll fight
to consolidate and enlarge rights

We are already working at the organization and setting up of the Worker Day, which will take place again at Campo de Bagatelle Square, in São Paulo. The banners of fight will be the workload reduction to 40 hours, without cut in the salaries, the readjust for retired and enlargement of workers rights.

The 1st of May is the day when our central makes a political act when we present fighting proposals to workers. As the event is also made for the worker family, it will have draws and free concerts with tens of artists.

The PEC 231/95, which stabilishes the 40 hours week, is stopped at the National Congress and because of that we are constantly awake to sensibilize the parliamentarians. We want that they approve the emend urgently, before the elections.

When defending the diminution of the hours of work, the salaried practice the solidarity, because the implementation of the proposal will be able to create thousands of jobs.

The initiative also points for the get better of the life quality of worker, once that they will have more time to education, professional qualification, leisure and to be with the family, just as it’s determined the decent work agenda of OIT.

Besides, we are in the fight for the readjust of 7,71% for the retires whose value are above the minimum, for the consolidation of social rigths and for the achievement of other claims, as the confirmation of the Conventions 151 and 159 of OIT and for the end of the degrade children work.

The predictions of economical growth and increase of investment for this year linked to concrete data about the income distribution and the taken back of job show that Brazil is doing better, creating an atmosphere of optimism among workers.

This way, the trade union movement has been stimulating to claim from the candidates to president a political and economical program which atends workers interests.

Poverty reduction

It’s clear that the current government have invested in the national development and the poverty reduction in such a way that Brazil today has 30 million people living below the line of misery. But, if there weren’t the speed of investments in the last 15 years the country would have today 50 million miserables.

The misery fell 43% since 2003, when it have been started government Lula. According to report published by “Folha de S.Paulo”, the income of work represents 67% of the inequality diminution; the “Bolsa Família”, 17%; social security expenses, 15,7%.

Minimum salary

“Besides, we have to highlight that the politic of recuperation of the value of the minimum salary, result of negotations of the trade union centrals and government Lula and better collective agreements also colaborated for the get better of the economic scene”, says Maria de Fátima Coelho, president of Força Sindical-AP.

At the same period, it have been created 12,2 million formal jobs. The creation of job posts have been making an ascedent curve. The Work Secretary have informed days ago that the liquid balance of new formal jobs in the country have been 266.415.

More jobs

This represents a new record for the month. The previous record for the month of March were obtained in 2008 (206.556). In April it will be created 340 thousand job posts, overpassing the better month until today, which was June, 2008, with 309 thousand new vacancies, believes the government.

For the businessmen, the predictions are also satisfactory. They believe that the PIB will overpass 7% in 2010. Defending the reduction of the Selic rate, Fiesp released that the investments may grow 26,4% this year, what will cause an increase of the employed labor, just as a sensitive income increase. This way, say the analists, there wouldn’t be inflation pressure.

Industry from São Paulo may open 180 thousand new vacancies
The industry from São Paulo may create about 180 thousand jobs until the end of this year, according to Fiesp prediction, revealing that the hires have already started. From January to March, 70 thousand vacancies were opened, and 45 thousand only in March. According to the businessmen entity, the number corresponds to a growth of 3,66% at the volume of opportunities opened in relation to the same period of last year. Nowadays, the sector has 6.520 vacancies opened. According to Fiesp data, the volume of hires may happen to cover the work posts closed because of the international crisis.

Conference about decent work will be in May
The federal government has given one more step to consolidate the National Agenda for Decent Work, instituting the Executive Commit Inter-Secretaries to the Implementation of the National Agenda for Decent Work (ANTD). It’s up to the commit the responsibility for the formulation of projects in the prioritary areas of cooperation, as well as the job of mobilizing resources for the implementation, monitoring and assessment of these projects. The decent work is fundamental condition for the overcome of poverty, social inequalities reduction and the sustainable development.

OAB-RJ wants the opening ditactorship files
With the objective of pressuring the government to open the militar ditactorship files, the OAB-RJ released the National Campaign for Memory and Truth. For the entity, it’s not understandable that Brazil haven’t followed the example of the neighboors countries and given to the families of the disapeared the right to know where they went to and, to the country, the right to know its History. OAB doesn’t understand why this new generation of militarians, who nothing has to do with those episodes, does not enter in this fight, inclusively to clean up the image of Brazilian Army.
