Productivity rate increases much more than salary

Just as a bloody bat, the businessmen of Brazilian industry have been feeding exclusively of the workers blood. According to study of the sub-section Dieese of Força Sindical, the exploration of labor rate have overpassed all the workers expectation.

In the case of the wood industry, the productivity have overpassed salaries in 37,29%, a record at the industry sector. The constatation comes from a study made by the sub-section Dieese of Força Sindical, based in IBGE data. Click here and check the numbers from January to May.

Champion segments
Of 18 analized industry segments, in 15 the productivity of the company have increased much more than the salaries, between January and May, 2010, over the same period of last year.

Only in three segments the salaries have overpassed productivity: smoke, textile and paper and graphic. “At the others, the gains of productivity (phisic person/employed people) overpass the salary gains”, highlights the economist of the sub-section of Dieese, Airton Gustavo dos Santos.

Salary increase
The increase of productivity have also increased much more than the salaries at the basic metallurgic (34,05%), machines and equipments (33,90%) and metal products (32.82%).

The semestral data of the Work and Job Ministery (MTE), about all the economic segments, reveal that there were an increase of 4,86% at the average workers salary admited in these first six months in relation to the first six months of last year.

Low index
“This index is insignificant if we take in consideration that in some segments there were expressive diferences between productivity gains and salary gains very superior to 4,8%”, says the general-secretary of Força Sindical, João Carlos Gonçalves, Juruna.

“There is space at the negotiations of this second semester to obtain bigger real gains and PLR with more elevated values”, says the trade union leader. “For that, we have to unite the salary campaigns at the cities and at the states”, completes Juruna.

United campaign
According to the substitute president of Sintepav of Bahia, Irailson Warneaux de Oliveira, the salary campaign of the sector was united in 2008 and the sindicate close an agreement of 11% of salary increase this year.

“We got good increases for the basic levels of the categories because of the elevation of the region minimum salary”, explains the president of Força Sindical-SC, Osvaldo Mafra. “We can’t negotiate the professional basic level below the region minimum salary”, insists the president of Força Sindical-MT, Manoel de Souza.

United campaign to achieve real gain and PLR

The work made by sub-section Dieese of Força Sindical shows clearly that the moment is very auspicious for workers to achieve excelents salary raises and good values of PLR at the salary campaigns of the second semester.

According to the study, the productivity rates have been increasing much more than salaries, coming to shameful 37,29% verified at the wood industry, a record at the industry sector, and to 34,05% at basic metallurgy.

However, there are objective conditions to close good collective agreements with index of real raise very superior to the obtained until now. In the same way, the values of PLR have to increase a lot. Some categories have already reached prizes around R$ 10 thousand.

To reach these objectives and to combat the labor exploration, the trade union movement has to work at the mobilization and organization of the basis, just as in the unification of the salary campaigns of workers of the same category, of different categories and together with the companions linked to the other trade union centrals.

But, if there weren’t politic conditions of unit between different entities, we’ll start the fight only with workers of Força Sindical.

Another important challenge: put clausules in the collective conventions that avoid workers rotativity, mechanisme used by bosses to decrease salaries. Last year it was dismissed 16 million people (over 17 million hires).

And we already know that these workers have lost their jobs to people which started to earn less.

Country has to invest
more in the job generation

With the liquid generation of 1,473 million formal jobs from January to June of this year, Brazil has overpassed the mark of 1,361 million formal vacancies verified at the same period of 2008, until then the record in the historic series started in 1992.

Although the Caged data show an unspeed at the creation of new job posts, the Work Minister, Carlos Lupi, believes in the generation of 2,5 million new jobs until the end of 2010.

More investments

There is no doubt that the news is good for workers, but the trade union leaderships claim for more investments at the infra-structure of the country in order to lead to the job market the millions of people who are still unemployed.

The accelerate growth at the offer of new vacancies is also important to attend for the demand of those professionals that every year come to the job market  looking for an opportunity.

Debate

“We also defend the necessity of the trade union centrals to debate with the government and the civil society the creation of an ample project of professional qualification to attend the necessities of labor of the market”, proposes Cláudio Corrêa, secretary of Trade Union Formation of Força-RS.

“Beyond a new qualification program, it’s also necessary the destination of resources for the success of the program”, completes him.

At the first semester, the average salary of the admited workers increased 4,86% in relation to the same period of last year, reaching R$ 821,13 in 2010. The average salary of the admited women, at the first six months of 2010, was R$ 753,23, while the average of men was R$ 856,88.

Average salary

At the period between 2003 and 2010, the average admission salary had, in national level, trajetory of increase, passing from R$ 635,85 at that year to the R$ 821,13 of 2010. “It’s a real raise of 29,14%”, observed Lupi.

The state which presented the biggest elevation in this comparison is Rondônia, because of the hires to the works of the hidro-electric usines of Jirau and Santo Antônio, at Madeira River. There the salary of admission increase was of 59,46%.

Transfering the
growth to our pockets

In the few times we come into a boss we realize that he is really happy. After all, IBGE have just released a research that register the industry growth of 19,7%, almost 20% in the last 12 months. It’s an undeniable growht and it impresses the developed world.

The reason for so much increase in production is the straight envolving of workers that each time more deserve the PLR. The 19,7% of production increase a the last 12 months was the biggest high since 1991.

And, complementing the production data, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the bosses maxime organization, released that the earnings increased 12% at the first trimester of 2010.

Therefore, it depends of us and of our moblization to transform the wide smile of the bosses, filled with cash, in more PLR and, mainly, in better negotiations of our collective conventions which are coming.

And it’s always good to remind that the businessmen are good now because it is accomplished the virtuous circle that we’ve announced by years.

Now, after the financial turbulences of the rich world, it’s the time to prize workers men and women with an expressive participation at the profits and results and an excellent salary negotiation.

For us to be really happy with more salary at our pockets that we’ll know how to transform in more consumption and investments in health, education and home.

Brazil atracts qualified foreign worker...

... Education doens’t attend the necessities of the country

The importation of foreign workers also shows that education in the country presents difficulties to keep up with the necessities of development of the country.
